WAJIR—Community leaders in Wajir are now grateful to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto following the reappointment of Fatuma Ali Hersi.

Speaking at a rally in Wajir, the elders said move would embolden local support for the government.

Mohamed Haji Dakane, peace activist and elder expressed his gratitude, saying move by Uhuru and Ruto to include Wajir County in their government “will not be easily forgotten.”

“The other time, we appealed to Jubilee leadership to include us (Wajir) in the government. I’m happy that the president heeded our call and reappointed our daughter( Fatuma), ” he said amid cheers at Central Wajir.

The Maendeleo Ya Wanawake chairlady Ms Hindiya Duale added that Fatuma’s reappointment is a gesture that William Ruto is reliable and ready to work with the people of Wajir.

” I want to tell the Deputy President that you’ve sowed your seed and the day you decide to seek our support, we are here to give it all to you,” she said.

She similarly lauded the president for considering more women into his government and top state jobs, saying he would be remembered for promoting gender parity.
