NAIROBI—Khalid Aganji, a talented footballer from Wajir town is all smiles after he was informed that his childhood dream to play along a Premier League team is finally coming true.

In a rare gesture, the Wajir County Women Representatives has pledged to pay his flight ticket and all other arrangements.

“Taking into consideration the need to nurture talent of our youths in Wajir, I would like to pay his (Khalid) ticket to England so that he can join trials there,” Fatuma Gedi posted on her Facebook page.

Speaking to Kulan Post, Khalid said the announcement came as sigh of relief.

“I’m very happy and I will forever remain indebted to her (Fatuma Gedi),” he said.

Khalid was picked for a trials and interview by Hull City in August last year, but he could not travel to their stadium due to lack of air ticket.

“It is a dream come true,” he said.

Fatuma Gedi said she was so moved when she was informed of the kind of opportunity the footballer was set to miss.

”I immediately liased with my office in Wajir to facilitate him,” she said.
