Students of Dertu Girls with their teacher in past event.

By: Mohamed Ali

Today marks nearly two weeks since the birth of new year. At it’s cradle, the year looks more frustrating, cumbersome and portrayed the springs of hopelessnes in the compounds of Dertu girls.

These springs has severely trampled on the dreams of nearly half of needy students were chased away from the school (Dertu girls) due to unpaid fees.

This puzzling revelations spells a doom in a society that believes the power and the ingenuity of the girl child.

The school being under the umbrella of Dadaab Constitueny, I am puzzled to the bone why the area MP has remained mute over this developing menace with a support of 100 Million annually-to foster development and most fundamentally splash bursaries around the Constituency to support the needy students.

MISUSED

The Auditor General has few months ago released a report that signals how Dadaab Constituency Development Fund have been misused, citing massive looting yet ignoring the plight of needy students in every corner of the Constituency.

Lest accountability and sanity is restored back in our public offices, I have a feeling that the future of our children, especially those from poor background is doomed.

I appeal to the County Government and Dadaab area MP to look into the developing fees woes in Dertu girls Secondary school or otherwise dark clouds hangs on the future of our children.
