GARISSA—Farah Maalim has expressed confidence that the court of appeal will annul the High court decision that upheld the re-election of Aden Duale as Garissa Township Member of Parliament.

Speaking in Nairobi after filling the appeal On Friday, Maalim said that he has filed a strong appeal contesting the High court ruling.

The former deputy Speaker of the National Assembly asked the majority leader to prepare himself for a political showdown.

“Duale should know that it is not yet over and he should stop celebrating and mocking me,” Maalim noted.

The one time Lagdera MP was adamant that, Duale’s re-election was not a reflection and will of the people of Garissa.

He urged Garissa township voters not to lose hope as justice will finally be delivered.

Duale’s third term re-election was upheld by the High Court on the 27th of last month, ruling that he was validly elected on 8th August.

Hedwing Ongundi, the presiding judge ruled that Farah failed to table concrete and sufficient evidence to nullify the election.

The court slapped Maalim with Sh.6 Million fine as costs for filling the petition.

Duale filed an application asking the appellate court to dismiss Maalim petition on grounds that it was filed late.

The majority leader of the National Assembly maintained that his re-election was free and fair.

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka criticized the High court ruling maintaining that Farah had a strong evidence of irregularities in the Garissa township Parliamentary election.
