MANDERA—Mandera governor has extended olive branch to opposers, saying political season was over.
Speaking at Takaba on Monday, governor Ali Roba said move was aimed at ending the hostility following the August elections.

“Jubilee and EFP camps are over now. We only have one governor and let’s work with that,” he said at the Takaba baraza park where he was accompanied by the Mandera senator, Mohamed Maalim, the Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and Special Planning, Eugene Wamalwa and and his Industrilisation counterpart, Aden Mohamed.

Roba was echoed by the senator who similarly appealed to the former gubernatorial candidate on an EFP ticket, Hassan Noor to lead the way and accept to work with the county government.
“In the run up to the polls, we said a lot, but that should not stop us from embracing each other,” the senator said.
Candidates from Economic Freedom Party (EFP) party backed by the Garre Council and Jubilee party led by the governor were the main competitors in the last General Elections.

Addressing the crowd, Eugene Wamalwa challenged the governor and the county leadership to engage with the poll losers, saying even at the national level, Raila and Uhuru have buried their differences to steer the country towards prosperity.

“We need to emulate what President Uhuru and Raila did last month. Let’s set aside our different and work together and reach out to those you feel are your competitors,” he said.

The Cabinet Secretaries were in Madera to asses the effect of the floods and distribute food stuffs
