Nairobi to host first halal expo

The first ever public exhibition showcasing Shariah compliant products in the business and food sectors is planned for next year in Nairobi.
The Halal Festival which is jointly organized by the country’s leading Shariah compliant financial providers, First Community Bank, Gulf African Bank and Takaful Insurance of African will be held on April 11 and 12, 2015 at the Thika Road Mall.
The two-day event will feature a business expo alongside a food expo that seeks to celebrate and showcase the richness and dynamism of the emerging halal economy in the East and Central Africa region.
“We expect to welcome over 100 business to interact with one another, market their products and services as well as build important connections,” said a joint statements from Abdallah Abdulkhalik, Hassan Bashir and Omar Sheikh the CEOs of Gulf African Bank, Takaful Insurance of Africa and First Community Bank respectively.
Gulf and First Community Bank are the only Shariah compliant banking institutions in the country while Takaful Insurance of African is the premiere company providing Islamic insurance services.
