GARISSA—Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji has urged politicians across the country to stop 2022 succession debates.

Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town, Haji noted that this 2022 succession debate is not adding value to the lives of Kenyans.

“Politicians should seize engaging in premature campaigns and focus on serving Kenyans.” Haji said.

He maintained that the 2017 political cycle has ended and elected leaders must get down to work for their electorates instead of focusing on 2022 politics.

“As leaders, we cannot spend all the years debating at the expense of providing services to Kenyans who elected us to office,” he added.

Haji noted that continued politicking is bad for the country’s economy and development, urging Kenyans to demand for services from their respective leaders whom they elected.

“The constitution gives Kenyans the power to recall their leaders who fail to perform.” The senator noted.

The Jubilee senator wants county governments in the North Eastern region to prioritize on development projects that will directly benefit the common people.

He appealed to local and foreign investors to pump their investments into Garissa and help alleviate poverty and unemployment.

On Monday in Abdisamit, Balambala constituency Haji called on the residents to give time for Governor Ali Korane and his team to deliver on their manifesto.

He requested the governor to ensure that he distributes resources adequately and fairly without favoring those who voted for him or discriminating against those who didn’t support him.
