NAIROIBI— The 2017 KCSE results are to be released by Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday afternoon at Nairobi School.
The 615,773 candidates who sat for their KCSE exam which ended on November 29,will know their results three weeks after the completion.
Only 141 candidates were able to attain the grade ‘A’ last year compared to 2,685 candidates who attained the same grade in 2015.
Overall, only 88,929 candidates attained the university entry grade of C+ and above compared to 169,492 the previous year. A Ministry of Education report on KCSE examination performance.
“The results are showing a normal curve,” the CS told the president.
Dr Matiang’i and Kenya National Examination Council (knec) Chairman George Magoha were directed by president Kenyatta to institutionalize education reforms so that the gains made in the last few years are maintained.
The exams were marked from December 7, which means the work was done in a record of about 11 days. In the previous years ,the exams were marked at least within 20 days.
This year exams were done under tight security and strict rules implemented last year.
Due to cheating ,three students were kicked out of examination centers during this year’s examination.
The president also asked the Teachers Service Commission to reward principals,schools and subject teachers who excelled to encourage high performance.
