WAJIR—The senator of Wajir County now wants the residents to forgive him, saying he has not been as ‘vibrant’ as his office demands.

Speaking at the county I. C.T hall in Wajir town when he invited the youths for a public forum,  senator Abdullahi Ali Kabreta said he would change tact and perform his duties.

“I want to apologise to you… I know that I have  not been actively preforming my duties,” he said, adding that, “I would be more active in my oversight role from today.”

True to his words, the senator has been conspicuously silent on major corruption scandals and reports of run-away nepotism in the County.

“I was busy with other things,” he stated.

Senator Abdullahi was involved in court cases that challenged his August 2017 elections. The case was solved in out-of-court settlement.

“My hands are now untied and I will perform,” he noted.

The senator said his office cannot empower youth “because it has not funds.”

“You need to understand that my office is simply put—an activist office,” he said.
The event was attended by MPs: Ahmed Abdisalan, Ahmed Bashane, Rashid Kassim.
